#10 Amsterdam, Nederland

by Love Like Birds

Time flew by
Walked across town, packed like a little mule
Carpooling with An Pierlé

A quick stop in a little mansion in Rotterdam, a former hospital and now home to beautiful pianos.

Amsterdam!
Always feels a bit like home

We’ll be playing at the Amstelkerk tonight. Lots of light and a calm atmosphere.
There’s an art exhibition displayed on the wall, and on the first floor there are little offices.

There was a big copy machine at our backstage, and An suggested we’d photocopy our butts and/or boobs, and sell them at the merch.
Unfortunately we didn’t get around to doing that, since there were people coming in and out at a regular bases.
Maybe next time.

My first solo show in a whole while.
I like it so much better with friends on stage.
The sound was amazing. Loved the reverb and the whole atmosphere.
Being the support of An Pierlé is so rewarding. She attracts a wonderful crowd.

Met up with one of my dear friends, Tullio, who I met about 4 years ago, when we were both on Erasmus here.
It was my first day, it was grey and lonely. He was struggling with his groceries, so I offered him a hand.
And that was the start of a beautiful friendship

Anyway, we walked to his apartment, and made a stop on the way
I got introduced to some of Tullio’s good friends and to Vrankrijk. In 3 words: squad, queer, bar
I LOVED it.
Everyone was so normal in his own abnormality.
The music was great, there was a performance about a drug called Homonormality, or “How to turn a bad queer into a good gay”
People were dressed up, talking to everyone around and just dancing freely.
My cup of tea.

Loved the late night walk through Amsterdam
I got a big sleeping coach in their beautiful living room, which I shared with a cat they lovingly called “Little Bitch”, since she tends to attack the feet of passersby and sharpens her claws on your stroking hands.
She was calm while I was getting ready to sleep, curled up in a furry ball across the room.
I told myself that she would probably come and sit on my face during the night, so I was prepared.
Ready for sweet dreams.
